Each country has a history
A past with its dark side
When hatred and oppression
Human decency denied
My homeland’s no exception
And slavery was the sin
A wound that’s still wide open
A wound that I looked in
And what I saw there changed me
Things I could not comprehend
Sent me searching for salvation
And ways to make amends
I was looking
For my salvation

My search it took me one day
To a monument afar
Made up of small stone markers
That outlined David’s Star
While walking on this sacred ground
I found to my surprise
The key to my redemption
Stood right before my eyes
These words of a wise man
Were etched upon one stone
“The secret to salvation
